DRCS can help with personal problems such as relationship and marital problems, bereavement and loss, family relationships, depression, stress and anxiety.

What is counselling?
Counselling is confidential talks between you and a trained counsellor.
You work together, sharing thoughts and feelings about yourself and other people who may be involved, so that a better understanding of your situation is reached and you can start to change your life for the better.
Counselling never involves criticising, judging, or giving advice.

Who are the counsellors?
All the DRCS counsellors are very well qualified and highly experienced.

They themselves receive regular professional counselling supervision. (These are confidential sessions for counsellors and do not involve anyone else observing a client’s individual time with their counsellor.)

Everyone at the DRCS abides strictly by the ethics and standards of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)

Where would I go for counselling?
Most counselling session take place in our rooms at Newholme in Bakewell.  We also offer a very limited number of appointments each week in Matlock.
Please see our contacts page for more information

Who would know I was receiving counselling?
NOBODY, unless you tell them! The DRCS is quite independent, and what you talk about with your counsellor will be kept in strict confidence.

Your counsellor will explain the necessary exceptions to this rule, which are very unlikely to affect you.
